Atlantic City is a more conservative version of the capital of gambling, and if you play Atlantic City Blackjack by Microgaming you’ll quickly understand why the developers chose precisely this name for their game. That’s because it’s a truly splendid and well crafted game carrying old-time visuals.
And so if you’re searching for a calmer online game featuring blackjack, Atlantic City Blackjack should be the right choice for you. There’s no flashing elements, screaming, or crazy music here. It’s all nicely slow and fluent. And if you like thinking while you play, you’ll be certainly happy that’s the case.
The visuals might be basic, but do contain everything that a high-quality card game should offer. And the rather stoic graphics are complemented with good audio. The music is slow and won’t disturb you during your gameplay. The game is narrated with a great female voice, but don’t come expecting too many voice lines. At most you’ll hear the current game state during and after each round. And it’s all complemented with quiet sounds that complete the atmosphere of a pleasant casino, one that’s only half-full.
Classical Blackjack with slightly different rules
Atlantic City Blackjack is a variant of the classical blackjack. There’s only a few rules that differentiate it. That’s why you shouldn’t be surprised if something looks different. The game is played on a classic table, but with five boxes. The game uses 52 cards from up to eight packs of cards. These are mixed after every game.
You start by playing against a dealer in a single box. But you can use up to 4 boxes during the game, for instance in case of a triple split. At the beginning you’re forced to make a bet, after which the dealer will give you your cards. The game supports all classical rules such as Double (even after playing split), Surrender and even Insurance – great for those who want to play a more careful game.
You win if the sum of your cards is equal to 21 or if you’re closer to 21 (from below) than the dealer’s cards. If you get a blackjack, your payout is 3:2. If you win without a blackjack, your payout is 1:1. And if the dealer is closer to 21 than you, he/she wins and you’ll lose your whole bet. A draw means that you get your whole bet back. Finally, if you were careful and used the Insurance rule just before the dealer gets a blackjack, you win your insurance – a win with a payout of 2:1.
